Dear UVA Students:
Early in-person voting is now open for the November 3, 2026, Virginia general election — and will continue until October 31. In accordance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA), UVA is providing you with a link to the Virginia Department of Elections website and voter registration form. This is where you can check your registration status, download a Virginia voter registration form, or update your registration information. The deadline to register to vote is October 23, 2026.
If you are already registered to vote in Virginia, you can also look up your polling place anytime through the Citizen Portal. Early voting in Virginia is available through Saturday, October 31.
You are encouraged to register by the October 23 deadline. If you wait to register on Election Day, your ballot will be considered provisional, and your registration may be voided if it is not complete or contains errors that cannot be corrected.
The University of Virginia encourages civic participation on the part of all citizens. If you have specific questions about eligibility, the voting process, or what you can expect at the polls, you will find comprehensive information, including a link to federal forms and the Virginia Voter Pocket Guide, on the Virginia Department of Elections website.
Sincerely,
