Elisa Holquist joined the Division of Student Affairs in May, 2016 and serves as the Associate Vice President for Finance and Strategy in Student Affairs.
 
She provides senior leadership and managerial direction for the centralized divisional budget and finance functions, and certain human resource processes.  Working as a member of the Division’s senior leadership team, Ms. Holquist assists with division planning, resource allocation, and policy formulation, and works together with this team to develop and implement approaches to thematic objectives that cross unit boundaries to improve processes and resolve issues.
 
Prior to returning to UVA, Ms. Holquist worked for over 20 years in Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Investment Management. She was a Managing Director and Head of Telecommunications M&A at JP Morgan, and later achieved award-winning investment performance through the 2008 financial crisis.
 
Ms. Holquist earned a BA in Political & Social Thought from the University of Virginia in 1985. She was an Echols Scholar, and served as a Co-Chair of Resident Staff. She served as a board member for the University of Virginia Alumni Association and the College of Arts & Sciences and chaired the investment committees for those boards. Ms. Holquist is also a UVA Parent: her son is a rising second year student. The Holquists own a home and ranch in Mineral de Pozos, Guanajuato, Mexico.
