Visit Monticello for Free

Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, has extended free admission to all UVA students for this academic year. You can reserve your free ticket online or in person. Be sure to take your UVA ID when you visit. More details are on the Monticello website.

Facilities and Operations 

Residence Hall

Residence Halls

  • All first-year and upperclass housing areas, including Residential Colleges and Language Houses, will remain open during Spring Break (March 4-12).
  • All on-Grounds mailrooms(Bond, Cauthen, Lambeth, Page, Runk, Shannon) will be open March 6-9 by appointment only for package pick-up.
    • Residents will be notified by email when a package has arrived
    • Mailrooms will be closed March 10-12
    • Regular mailroom hours resume on Monday, March 13.

Fresh Food Co Dining Hall

Dining Services

UVA Dining will operate on a limited schedule from March 3-12, with additional locations reopening the evening of Sunday, March 15. For a full list of locations and hours, see the Spring Break Hours of Operation.

  • O'Hill Dining Hall, Newcomb Fresh Food Co., and Runk Dining Hall will be closed March 4-11.
  • Crossroads will be open March 4-11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and March 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Starbucks at Newcomb Hall will be open 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 7-11.

Student Health

Student Health will be open March 4-11 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In an emergency or life-threatening situation, please call 911.

Student Health’s Medical Services and CAPS after-hours urgent call line is available 24/7, even when the facility is closed. Call 434-297-4261 to reach care providers for urgent questions or concerns. Learn more by visiting the Student Health website.


UTS Bus

Parking & Transportation

  • University Transit Service (UTS) will not run on March 4, 5, 11, and 12.
  • UTS buses will operate on their Recess Service schedule March 6-10:
    • Commuter routes (Blueline, Redline) run normally
    • Academic Routes (Gold Line, Green Line, Orange Line, Silver Line) run every 20 minutes until 8:00 p.m.
    • UTS Night Pilot does not run
  • UTS OnDemand will provide service 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., March 6-10.
