Online Requirements for New and Returning Students
As part of preparing for a new semester, both new and returning students must complete one or more items related to community policies and standards. If you go to your Dashboard in the Student Information System (SIS), you will see the items you need to complete under your To Do List or Tasks. These items will also appear as “Mandatory Training” on the Courses page of your UVACanvas account. Access SIS or UVACanvas by clicking the links below.
If you’re experiencing technical issues, please contact the UVA Help Desk. This includes if you believe you have completed a module on Canvas and it has not been removed from your SIS To Do List after waiting 48 hours.
Additionally, we are aware of a technical issue with the Not On Our Grounds Sexual Assault Prevention module. Typically, this issue is resolved by enabling cookies prior to completing the module.

- Active Attacker and Response Training Module
-
While difficult, thinking about what you would do in an active-attacker situation is one of the most effective things you can do to enhance your safety. The University’s Department of Safety and Security created a brief training video that discusses the national model of Run-Hide-Fight, the UVA Alerts emergency notification process, and the importance of reporting concerning warning behaviors that can precede a violent attack. Given the simulated active threat and sensitive subject matter presented in the video, students who have experienced trauma involving an active attacker understandably may not want to view this content. An exemption can be granted from this requirement – students in this situation should write to [email protected].
