Welcome New Students

To
Transfer Students
From
Vice President Robyn S. Hadley, Student Affairs

Welcome to the University of Virginia! We are thrilled you have decided to continue your studies here, and we look forward to staying in touch with you over the summer as you prepare to join us in late August.

Transitioning from your current institution to UVA may cause a confusing mixture of emotions within you right now. Feeling both excitement and nervousness is perfectly understandable as part of the transition process. We are here to support you along the way as you begin this new journey.

The area I am honored to lead – the Division of Student Affairs – is committed to your well-being and success.  The division includes Orientation and New Student Programs, Student Engagement, Student Safety and Support, Multicultural Student Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Housing & Residence Life, Student Health and Wellness, the UVA Career Center, and the Office of African-American Affairs. Students are at the center of our mission. Whether it’s fostering a vibrant life outside the classroom or providing resources around physical and mental health, we care about our students’ total experience at UVA.

If you haven’t already, please take some time to become familiar with resources available to Transfer Students, including Transfer Peer Advisors, the Transfer Advisory Board, and other resources specific to your school. Summer Orientation (either Session H on July 28 or Session J on July 29) will help you learn more about your University and how you can thrive as a member of this community. We look forward to meeting you during Orientation, and once you meet your Orientation Leader, don’t hesitate to reach out to them with questions.

We cannot wait to see you here in Charlottesville, share with you all that UVA has to offer, and watch you grow during your time here. Welcome, welcome!

Warm regards,

Robyn S. Hadley
