Hoos Against Hazing Council

The Hoos Against Hazing Council (HAHC) is open to any interested UVA student, staff, or faculty member. HAHC works to identify and advocate for ways to engage the University community in evidence-informed hazing prevention, intervention, and response. The Council meets twice per semester, with smaller working groups meeting more frequently to identify issues, create programs, and advocate for change.

Interested in joining HAHC? Complete this brief application form.

Examples of work done by the HAHC include

  • The SAFE? graphic for identifying hazing (created by student members of the HAHC Communications Working Group):

  • Roundtable discussions with student organizations around hazing and alcohol misuse (developed and implemented by the HAHC Prevention Working Group).
  • Partnering with the University Judiciary Committee during UJC Week to host an event around increasing education, transparency, and open dialogue regarding hazing response (coordinated with the HAHC Response Working Group).

In partnership with the Honor Committee, the University Judiciary Committee, and the Gordie Center, the HAHC created a campaign called “There’s no honor in hazing.

Would you like to provide a quote about what “There’s no honor in hazing” means to you? Fill out our anonymous form and potentially have your response featured in the campaign.
