To
Students in California
From
Vice President Kenyon R. Bonner, Student Affairs

For the past several days, we have been carefully monitoring news from Southern California, concerned by reports of the devastation caused by the fires across the region. The University of Virginia knows hundreds of our UVA families live and work in this part of the country and many have been directly affected by this tragedy.

If you, your family, or your community have been affected by the ongoing situation in LA County and you need support, we want you to know Student Affairs is here for you. Many of the resources linked on our Hoo Needs Help page are intended to support students who may be experiencing an emergency and need a bridge through a difficult time. Also, Student Health and Wellness provides both clinical and non-clinical support. Students who are seeking resources to address their unmet needs or engage in additional support are encouraged to visit Care and Support Services (CASS) and for mental health support, please visit Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). Students looking for financial support can also visit our emergency funding page for additional resources.

Most importantly, we encourage our entire UVA community to look out for each other and take care of yourselves. And if there is anything else we can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Sincerely,

Kenyon R. Bonner
Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer
