Fall Dates for Family Weekend and Other Events

Dear Parents and Family Members:

The University recently announced several key dates for the fall, including Family Weekend. By getting these dates in your hands now, I hope it helps you and your family to plan ahead:

Fall Football Schedule
Check out the Virginia Sports website for the complete schedule.

Move-In
Friday, Aug. 18 – Monday, Aug. 21.
You may wish to bookmark the University’s academic calendar for other key 2023-2024 dates.

Courses Begin
Tuesday, Aug. 22

Reading Days (Fall Break)
Saturday, Sept. 30 – Tuesday, Oct. 3

Virginia Film Festival
Wednesday, Oct. 25 – Sunday, Oct. 29
The film festival is a favorite among students, the local community and movie aficionados near and far. Check out the website to stay informed of this year’s schedule once it is announced closer to the event.

Family Weekend
Friday, Nov. 3 – Sunday, Nov. 5
The 2023 schedule for Family Weekend will be available later in the summer. In the meantime, check out the 2022 schedule to get a sense of the many activities that will be available. The weekend will include a football game against Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Thanksgiving Break
Wednesday, Nov. 22 – Sunday, Nov. 26

Courses End
Tuesday, Dec. 5

Exams
Thursday, Dec. 7 – Friday, Dec. 15

Winter Break Begins
Saturday, Dec. 16
