Dear New UVA Families:
Classes are now in full swing. I hope your student is doing well, finding their way around Grounds, and finding help if they need it. Always remember that studentaffairs.virginia.edu is a great resource!
From Convocation and Honor Induction to the Rotunda Sing featuring our a cappella groups, last week was a fantastic start to a new academic year and introduction to University traditions.
Our first home football game is tomorrow, and our soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, cross country/track, and volleyball teams have already started competition.
I invite you to click on Wahoo Welcome Highlights below to experience some of the BIG welcome we provided to new students. Maybe you will spot your new Hoo at move-in, singing along at the concert, swaying to the alma mater, or indulging in a snow cone! Wahoowa!
Also below are links to two full recordings. In the first, UVA President Jim Ryan welcomes new families on Thursday, Aug. 18, and afterward a panel answers a range of questions from parents. The second link takes you to Opening Convocation and the Honor Induction where your student heard from several speakers, including President Ryan and Professor Leslie Kendrick, director of the Center for the First Amendment at UVA’s School of Law.
Family Weekend will be here soon – Oct. 28-30. Please watch for a message next week with details about registration.
Warm regards,
Robyn S. Hadley
Vice President and Dean of Students
